Rio Meia Ponte reaches critical level, threatening Goiânia water supply

The State Secretariat for Environment and Sustainable Development (Semad) has declared the Rio Meia Ponte at Critical Level 1 at the water intake point for Goiânia. This follows a continuous decline in water flow after nearly two months without rain. Although a sensor issue caused some measurement discrepancies, Semad maintained the critical status due to the downward trend in volume.

While water supply in Goiânia remains normal for now, the classification requires Saneago to develop a water rationing plan. This plan must be submitted to regulatory bodies and the Hydrographic Basin Committee for approval and may be implemented based on operational needs.

Separately, in Bahia, the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit) has declared an emergency for a bridge over the Gongogi River on the BR-030 highway in Dário Meira. Technical assessments identified severe structural damage, including concrete ruptures in foundation blocks, posing a risk of collapse.
