Rio Ngumoha credits Mohamed Salah for mentorship at Liverpool

Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha has credited former teammate Mohamed Salah for providing pivotal guidance during his breakthrough season. Ngumoha revealed that before Salah’s departure from the club, the Egyptian forward mentored him by emphasizing the importance of end product, specifically telling him, “Rio, you know you’re a good player but to reach the top, you have to add the goals and assists.”

Ngumoha, who became Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer in August 2025, has noted that this focus on goals and assists has become a central part of his development as an attacker.

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has commented on the teenager's rising profile, noting that while Ngumoha should first focus on cementing his place at Anfield, he may eventually face temptation from major European clubs like Bayern Munich. Heskey suggested that the German club represents a successful pathway for young talent, citing the success of other players in the Bundesliga.
