Rio Tinto partners with RevoCast for new B.C. aluminium supply chain

Rio Tinto has entered into a long-term agreement with RevoCast Aluminum Billets Ltd. to establish a new British Columbia-based supply chain for North American manufacturers. Under this deal, primary aluminium from Rio Tinto’s Kitimat smelter will be sent to RevoCast’s newly commissioned casting facility in Langley.

At the Langley site, the Kitimat aluminium will be combined with recycled material processed by RevoCast to produce aluminium billet. The companies stated that this partnership aims to increase the recycled and low-carbon content of finished products while bringing production closer to regional customers.

Rio Tinto clarified that the agreement will not change production levels, staffing, or shifts at the Kitimat BC Works operations. RevoCast commissioned its Langley facility in August, though the specific volume and timeframe of the aluminium supply have not been disclosed.
