Rio Tinto takes strategic stake in Mogotes Metals

Mogotes Metals Inc. has entered a new exploration phase following a strategic investment from Rio Tinto. Rio Tinto Canada completed a previously announced stake in the company, subscribing to over 30 million units at 0.70 CAD. This investment provided Mogotes with approximately 21.27 million CAD (15 million USD) and grants Rio Tinto an initial ownership stake of roughly 5%.

Beyond the capital injection, the two companies have established a strategic and technical alliance. Mogotes Metals has expanded its portfolio from a single focus on the Vicuña district to managing three major copper-gold projects across three continents. The company is preparing extensive drilling programs for the next twelve months at its Filo Sur, Beskauga, and Copper Cliff sites, positioning 2026/2027 as a critical period for its development.
