Rionegro launches blood donation drive to support local health

The Mayor's Office of Rionegro, in collaboration with several partner entities, is organizing a new blood donation drive titled ‘Rionegro Dona Vida’ from August 28 to August 30. The initiative aims to encourage voluntary blood donation and strengthen community solidarity.

Donation points will be located at the Rionegro main park from Friday to Sunday, and at the San Antonio de Pereira church on Saturday and Sunday. Both locations will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will also feature family-oriented activities, including programming from the 7th RioLeo Book and Culture Festival.

Recent data shows a significant increase in citizen participation following a national emergency. Between August 1 and August 21, 315 people donated blood. Since April 2024, more than 2,200 people have participated in these drives through Clínica Somer and San Juan de Dios Hospital, impacting the lives of an estimated 5,169 patients.
