Rionegro secures 93 medals at Intercolegiados Games

Rionegro concluded its participation in the 2026 Intercolegiados Games Departmental Final with a total of 93 medals, securing fifth place in the general classification for conventional sports in Antioquia. This performance established the municipality as the top representative of the Oriente Antioqueño region.

In conventional disciplines, swimming was the most successful sport, contributing 25 medals (seven gold, eight silver, and ten bronze). Table tennis also saw significant success with 17 medals, including a general championship in the pre-juvenile category. Other notable achievements included 11 medals in athletics, eight in karate do, and five in boxing, where the municipality earned the male general runner-up title.

In skating, Rionegro secured the pre-juvenile female general championship, while in road cycling, the municipality achieved the male general championship. The delegation also performed strongly in para-sports, with para-athletics and boccia contributing a combined 14 medals. These results are attributed to the year-round training and support provided by the Municipal Institute of Physical Education, Sport, and Recreation (IMER Rionegro).
