Rio's Heritage Institute Marks 40 Years with Free Children’s Festival

The Instituto Rio Patrimônio da Humanidade (IRPH) commemorated its 40th anniversary on July 25, 2024 with a free public event called “De Férias com o Patrimônio.” The celebration was hosted at the Petrobras Futuros – Arte e Tecnologia building on Rua Dois de Dezembro in Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro, and ran from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The program, organized together with the municipal MultiRio platform and the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan), offered a range of interactive activities for children of all ages. Attendees could play educational board games, join RPG workshops, paint, and receive a heritage‑themed magazine. New digital games featuring MultiRio Futebol Clube and Rio Escola do Samba were also available. The event included exhibitions “Sua Energia” by Rejane Cantoni and “Papo Reto” by Laboratório 2050, and highlighted IRPH’s three‑decades of educational resources for cultural heritage.

The free festival aimed to raise awareness of Rio’s historic assets and provide playful learning experiences for families, reinforcing the city’s cultural identity.
