Riotinto health centre in Spain suspends consultations due to AC failure
The PSOE in Huelva condemned the suspension of outpatient appointments at the Minas de Riotinto health centre after the building’s air‑conditioning system broke down, leaving the facility unbearably hot for weeks. The malfunction, which has persisted for three weeks, forced the closure of afternoon emergency services that have been unavailable since the summer of 2025, directing patients to the Riotinto Hospital and the Nerva health centre.
Socialist deputy Macarena Robles accused Andalusian President Juanma Moreno of “abandoning the mining basin” and said the situation reflects “the dismantling of public health” in the region. Mayor Rocío Díaz of Minas de Riotinto called the conditions “beyond all limits” and reiterated the town’s year‑long request for restored emergency care and immediate repairs to the climate‑control system and staff levels.
