Ripoll police chief sues City Council over inspector status

Francesc Campayo, the head of the Ripoll Local Police, has filed a lawsuit against the Ripoll City Council in a Girona court. The legal action follows the council's failure to recognize his professional category as an inspector and provide the corresponding salary, despite Campayo having met all requirements and successfully completed the necessary training at the Institut de Seguretat Pública de Catalunya months ago.

In addition to the court filing, Campayo has submitted a complaint to the Síndica de Greuges (the Ombudsman). He is requesting an investigation into potential reprisals from the administration following his formal request for regularization in June. Campayo alleges that since making that request, he has faced an intensification of disciplinary actions and control measures.

The dispute occurs amid existing tensions in the Ripoll administration involving Mayor Sílvia Orriols. Previous controversies in the municipality included the appointment of the mayor's daughter to an interim police position and disciplinary proceedings against Campayo regarding time registration records.
