Riposto Mayor defends Pantano seafront repair procedures
Davide Vasta, the Mayor of Riposto, has responded to a parliamentary inquiry regarding restoration work on the Pantano seafront, which was damaged by Cyclone Harry. Addressing a request for an audience by regional deputy Santo Primavera, Vasta stated that all administrative procedures have been strictly followed.
The Mayor clarified that the seafront is municipal territory rather than state-owned land. He explained that emergency funding is reserved for immediate risks, whereas the restoration of sidewalks and bike lanes is being handled through standard bidding procedures. A technical report using georadar confirmed the stability of the area, though it noted risks from future storm surges.
Vasta also clarified that approximately 1.67 million euros allocated via regional ordinance were intended for previously completed emergency interventions on Via Marina, rather than for the Pantano seafront project.
