Ripple executives and analysts discuss XRP role in financial infrastructure
Ripple leadership and industry analysts are highlighting the expanding role of XRP within the company’s broader financial ecosystem. Sendi Young, Ripple’s Managing Director for Europe, confirmed that XRP is a priority component of Ripple’s payments network, serving as a digital asset native to the XRP Ledger used for cross-border payments.
Ripple CTO emeritus David Schwartz noted that increased adoption of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is likely to drive demand for XRP. He cited its utility as a liquidity bridge, its use in paying transaction fees, and its status as a counterparty-free asset as key drivers for value capture as more financial activity moves to the network.
Additionally, analysts suggest Ripple is building a cohesive institutional financial network across eight layers, including stablecoins, settlement infrastructure, and custody services. This includes the development of the RLUSD dollar-backed stablecoin and leveraging the XRP Ledger for rapid, low-cost transaction settlement.
