Ripple executives discuss five-year outlook for XRP

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and CTO Emeritus David Schwartz have shared their five-year visions for XRP, sparking debate among digital asset commentators. During a recent discussion, Garlinghouse stated that the token would “continue to break out as the institutional gold standard for crypto.” In contrast, Schwartz predicted that mass retail adoption would arrive for XRP within the next five years.

Some market commentators have expressed concern regarding these statements. One critic noted that Garlinghouse’s pause before answering suggested hesitation, while Schwartz’s focus on retail adoption was viewed by some as a deviation from XRP’s original design, which was primarily marketed for institutional use by banks and payment providers.

These comments coincide with a period of significant activity for Ripple. The company is currently hosting its annual Swell conference in New York. Additionally, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency recently granted final approval for Ripple National Trust Bank, which will manage reserves for the RLUSD stablecoin and provide digital asset custody services.
