Jeonbuk Bank partners with Ripple for cross-border payments

Ripple has entered a strategic partnership with Jeonbuk Bank, a major regional lender in South Korea, to deploy Ripple Payments for cross-border remittances. This marks the first time a South Korean regional bank has adopted the platform. The technology aims to replace traditional multi-day SWIFT transfers with near real-time settlement that operates 24/7, completing transactions in seconds or minutes.

The service is specifically designed to support business customers, including import-export firms, technology startups, and digital content creators. While the partnership focuses on improving speed, transparency, and cost-efficiency, the companies have not publicly disclosed whether the settlement will utilize XRP, the RLUSD stablecoin, or fiat-to-fiat rails.

This deal represents Ripple’s third major partnership in South Korea in 2026, following agreements with Kyobo Life Insurance and Kbank. Simultaneously, the XRP token has experienced significant market volatility, recently testing the $1 psychological support level amid increased whale accumulation and institutional interest through ETFs.
