Ripple partners with Meritz Securities in South Korea

Ripple has entered into a partnership with South Korean securities firm Meritz Securities to explore institutional cryptocurrency custody and asset tokenization. This agreement marks Ripple’s first partnership with a South Korean securities firm and its fourth institutional collaboration in the country this year, following previous engagements with Kyobo Life, Kbank, and Jeonbuk Bank.

Under the agreement, Meritz Securities will evaluate Ripple’s infrastructure, specifically Ripple Custody and its tokenization platform, to determine how these technologies can support the firm’s capital markets operations. The evaluation will focus on the secure holding, transfer, and settlement of digital assets. Meritz is currently considering several digital asset initiatives, including spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), fractional investment models, security tokens, digital asset trading platforms, and Korean won-denominated stablecoins.

The collaboration will initially operate within South Korea’s existing securities regulations and regulatory framework. Both parties intend to gradually expand the scope of their services as the local regulatory environment evolves. Financial terms and a specific commercial launch date have not been disclosed.
