Ripple Secures EU MiCA License, Expands Regulated Crypto Payments Across 30 Countries
Ripple Labs obtained a Markets in Crypto‑Assets (MiCA)‑aligned Crypto‑Asset Service Provider (CASP) licence from Luxembourg’s financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). Combined with its existing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licence, the authorisation lets Ripple offer regulated crypto‑payment, collection and conversion services throughout all 30 European Economic Area (EEA) states under a single compliance framework. The company now counts more than 75 regulatory licences worldwide and cites partnerships with banks such as BBVA in Spain and DZ BANK in Germany.
The regulatory win has not immediately lifted XRP’s market price. The token traded around $1.05 on 6 August, slipping below the $1 psychological level, while U.S. spot XRP ETFs recorded a net outflow of $3.58 million on 5 August. On‑chain data shows a 30‑day realised volatility of 0.34, the lowest in three months. Analysts note that 72 % of European fintech firms view digital‑asset solutions as essential and 44 % expect stablecoins to become the default method for cross‑border payments within five years, underscoring the broader institutional interest that the licence aims to unlock.
