Ripple manages XRP escrow releases and RLUSD stablecoin growth
Ripple is managing significant shifts in its digital asset ecosystem, including the scheduled monthly release of 1 billion XRP from escrow. Following the September 1 unlock, Ripple reportedly re-locked 700 million XRP back into escrow, leaving a net increase in circulating supply. This process is part of a long-standing supply management mechanism established in 2017.
Simultaneously, Ripple’s dollar-pegged stablecoin, RLUSD, has surpassed a $2 billion market capitalization. The asset is being actively minted and burned across both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum. Currently, Ethereum holds a larger share of the RLUSD supply, accounting for approximately 56%, while the XRP Ledger holds about 44%. This growth is driven by demand in decentralized finance (DeFi) sectors, particularly on Ethereum.
Market analysts remain divided on XRP’s price trajectory. While some technical indicators suggest short-term momentum loss and consolidation near the $1.30–$1.40 range, others point to bullish setups and potential targets as high as $2.10 or $2.20 if key resistance levels are reclaimed. The ecosystem also continues to expand its utility through real-world asset (RWA) tokenization and long-term plans for quantum resistance.
