Ripple’s Swell Conference Fuels Institutional Push for XRP

Ahead of Ripple’s annual Swell conference, crypto commentator Wendy O highlighted the company’s focus on institutional adoption, noting that while the event showcases growth in the XRP ecosystem, the benefits may skew toward larger market participants rather than retail investors.

On June 17 Ripple announced a strategic equity investment in African payments firm Flutterwave, valuing the company at $3.2 billion and embedding the XRP Ledger and Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin into payment rails that operate across more than 30 African countries. The deal spurred a surge of ETF inflows, with $5.3 million entering XRP‑related funds that week, helping the token trade around $1.10.

Analysts also argue that XRP is being positioned as a broader financial‑settlement layer beyond a simple SWIFT alternative, potentially serving as a neutral, high‑performance public infrastructure for banks and tokenized assets. Major institutions such as JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and HSBC are exploring blockchain solutions, underscoring the growing institutional interest in Ripple’s technology.
