Risan workshop teaches armor and jewelry making to primary students

The non‑governmental organization Medaur organized a creative‑educational workshop titled “Skill of Making Armor and Jewelry” in the coastal town of Risan from July 26 to 29. The four‑day event was aimed at primary‑school pupils in grades five through nine, with 18 participants attending.

Led by armor maker and craftsman Luka Vušurović, the participants learned traditional metal‑working techniques, especially wire shaping, to produce small pieces of jewelry and souvenirs. The program highlighted Risan’s cultural heritage and historic trade traditions of the former Republic of Gabela. The workshop formed part of the “Heritage in Young Hands” project, which seeks to connect young people with local cultural legacy and encourage ongoing preservation efforts.
