Risaralda athletes to compete in Finswimming World Championship

Finswimming Risaralda CMAS World Championship Colombia national team Sharm El Sheikh

Five athletes from the Risaralda department have been selected to represent the Colombian national team at the 2026 CMAS World Championship Finswimming Open Water Seniors & Juniors in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The competition is scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 4.

The delegation includes Valeria Gómez Garcés, Christopher García González, Thomas Bustamante Ángel, Sofía Campeón Restrepo, and Meylle Ramírez Restrepo, led by coach Cristhian Fabián Delgado Páez. This marks the first time in history that a group from Risaralda has participated in this world championship event.

The team will travel through Panama and Turkey to reach Egypt for final preparations. According to local sports officials, the group represents the largest contribution of athletes from a single Colombian department to the national delegation.
