Risaralda political shifts: Ombudsman departs and assembly leadership changes
Several political and administrative changes are occurring in the Risaralda region of Colombia. Lina María Naranjo has stepped down as the Ombudsman (Defensora del Pueblo) for Risaralda after 15 months in the role, during which she focused on decentralizing services to remote municipalities.
Additionally, Juan Carlos Valencia Montoya, a representative for the U Party, announced he will resign from his position as President of the Departmental Assembly in less than a month to focus on his campaign for the Mayor of Pereira, though he will retain his seat.
Senator Luis Carlos Rúa has indicated that his legislative priorities will include oversight of public works in Pereira, specifically targeting the remodeling of the Hernán Ramírez Villegas State building, the Corales intersection, the Los Colibríes Avenue, and the Wastewater Treatment Plant (PTAR).
