Rishabh Pant identified as major threat for Sri Lanka ahead of Test series

Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Farveez Maharoof has identified Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant as a primary threat ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against India. Despite Pant recording modest scores of 2 and 28 in a recent warm-up match in Colombo, Maharoof warned that Pant possesses an ‘X-factor’ and an unorthodox technique that allows him to change the course of a game within 30 to 45 minutes.

Maharoof suggested that Pant’s ability to play his natural game makes him dangerous, even when facing significant spin. Regarding India’s tactical approach for the first Test at Galle International Stadium, Maharoof predicted a balanced attack featuring three spinners and two seamers. He specifically noted that a spin trio consisting of Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Manav Suthar could be an ideal combination for the venue, highlighting Suthar’s ability to extract bounce from the pitch.
