Rishabh Pant named captain of Rest of India for Irani Cup 2026

The BCCI has announced the Rest of India squad for the 2026 Irani Cup, with wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant appointed as captain. Sarfaraz Khan will serve as the vice-captain.

The tournament, scheduled to take place from October 1 to 5 in Srinagar, will see the Rest of India face off against the reigning Ranji Trophy champions, Jammu and Kashmir. Due to scheduling conflicts with the Asian Games and India’s ODI series against the West Indies, several high-profile players are unavailable, resulting in a squad composed primarily of domestic stars.

The Rest of India roster includes Sanat Sangwan, Shikhar Mohan, Sudip Gharami, Smaran Ravichandran, Manav Suthar, Saransh Jain, and Ayush Doseja in the batting unit. Aryan Juyal is named as the backup wicketkeeper. The bowling attack features spinners Anukul Roy, Manav Suthar, and Saransh Jain, while the pace department includes Mukesh Kumar, Mukesh Choudhary, Aryan Pandey, and Akash Deep, though Deep’s participation remains subject to fitness.
