Rising back-to-school costs drive use of AI and community giveaways

Rising costs are impacting back-to-school preparations for families in the United States. According to a Coresight Research study, 56% of shoppers plan to use AI tools to manage expenses and avoid scams. These AI assistants can act as personalized shopping planners by analyzing budgets, grade levels, and specific school supply lists.

In Minnesota, community initiatives are emerging to mitigate financial pressure. The City of Coon Rapids recently hosted a free school supply and clothing swap to keep useful items in circulation. Various giveaway events are scheduled throughout August in cities including St. Paul, Minneapolis, Brooklyn Center, and Columbia Heights to assist parents facing higher prices compared to previous years.
