Rising female talents advance in German football

Two rising female talents in German football are making significant strides in their respective careers.

Lea Kretschmar, a 22-year-old referee from Bautzen, has ascended to the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga. Since becoming a DFB referee in 2022, she has also gained experience officiating in men's football, managing matches involving 22 male players. Kretschmar focuses on performance and professional authority on the pitch rather than her gender.

Marlene Wagner, a young defender, has joined the TSG Hoffenheim U17 junior team. After playing in boys' teams during her youth and participating in a U-16 national team perspective training program, Wagner has moved to Hoffenheim to pursue her goals of playing in the Bundesliga and for the national team.
