Rising temperatures increase cockroach activity in homes

Rising temperatures increase cockroach activity as these insects seek water, food, and shelter. While often associated with poor hygiene, infestations can occur in clean homes if environmental conditions allow.

Cockroaches typically enter dwellings through drains, pipes, cracks, electrical conduits, or gaps in doors and windows. They may also be transported via cardboard boxes, appliances, or shopping bags. In apartment buildings, infestations can spread quickly through shared infrastructure.

To prevent infestations, experts recommend storing food in sealed containers, managing trash with lidded bins, and repairing water leaks to eliminate moisture. Reducing clutter by removing cardboard boxes and newspapers can also eliminate potential hiding spots.
