Rita Cavallaro files legal complaint after death threats over Garlasco murder case
Italian journalist Rita Cavallaro, a leading reporter on the Garlasco murder investigation, disclosed that she has been targeted with death threats following a year‑and‑a‑half of online harassment. The threats referenced acid, firearms and strangulation. Together with lawyers Elisabetta Aldrovandi and Cosimo Cavallaro, she filed a querela and asked for activation of Italy’s “codice rosso” procedure to accelerate identification of the perpetrator.
During a television appearance Cavallaro said, “Non ho mai ricevuto minacce di questo tipo, e invece le ricevo per Garlasco.” She added that the intimidation appears intended to delegitimize the prosecution, police and journalists involved in the case. Similar threats have been reported against other legal representatives and a YouTuber linked to the investigation.
