Rita Edochie denies retracting posts amid ₦1bn lawsuit
Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has denied reports claiming she retracted social media posts targeting her colleague, Judy Austin. This clarification follows allegations by lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye that Edochie's formal response to the Abuja High Court denied authoring the posts in question.
Edochie maintains that the lawyer's claims do not reflect her position, noting she has not yet formally appeared in court. She has stood by her previous comments regarding a marital dispute involving Yul Edochie, his estranged wife May, and his second wife, Judy Austin, asserting that her posts were true.
The dispute is part of a ₦1 billion defamation and cyberbullying lawsuit filed by Austin. The suit seeks ₦1 billion in general damages, a public apology in two national newspapers and on social media, the removal of the alleged defamatory content, and ₦50 million to cover legal costs. The hearing is scheduled to begin on September 29.
