Rita Redshoes performs new album 'FALA' at Casa da Música

Portuguese singer Rita Redshoes recently performed her seventh studio album, ‘FALA’, at Casa da Música in Porto. Released on September 25, the project serves as a tribute to female composers and songwriters within the Portuguese music scene.

The album features ten original songs written by various Portuguese female artists, including Márcia, Cláudia Pascoal, A garota não, Ana Bacalhau, Amélia Muge, Joana Espadinha, Mafalda Veiga, Minta, Marília Miranda Lopes, and Margarida Campelo, with collaboration from Ana Cláudia. The project aims to explore diverse perspectives on contemporary womanhood, touching on themes of identity, maternity, freedom, and exhaustion.

This work follows Redshoes’ 2012 show ‘The Other Women’, which honored international female inspirations such as Nina Simone and Joni Mitchell. While ‘FALA’ focuses exclusively on Portuguese authors, Redshoes noted that the songs are written through a female lens without being strictly confined to gender-specific issues.
