Ritchie Bros. reports increased auction volumes amid market uncertainty

Ritchie Bros., a global asset disposal and auction group, reported an 18 per cent year-on-year increase in lots sold across the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions during the first half of 2026. The growth occurs amid a market characterized by rising operating costs and economic uncertainty, which has led many businesses to postpone machine replacements and hold onto existing fleets longer.

This trend suggests that the used equipment market is increasingly being used as a source for machinery to avoid the costs associated with new equipment. In the Asia-Pacific region, auction volumes climbed 53 per cent year-on-year, while construction and industrial equipment remained a primary driver of activity.

To capitalize on buyer demand, the company has announced a ‘Super September’ auction month, featuring 11 scheduled auctions worldwide. These events span multiple countries, including China, Japan, Australia, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, France, the UAE, the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, and Italy.
