Ritchy Thibault faces court for inciting violence
Ritchy Thibault, a 22-year-old activist and former parliamentary assistant to Ersilia Soudais, appeared before the 18th chamber of the Bobigny court following his arrest in Saint-Denis. He is accused of inciting violence, specifically calling for attacks on the Élysée Palace and police stations.
The hearing was marked by tension and was suspended twice. A crowd of supporters gathered to back Thibault, who has a history of using his legal proceedings as political platforms. While the political group La France Insoumise (LFI) has distanced itself from him due to the nature of his remarks, Thibault remains involved in multiple legal procedures that are expected to continue through May 2027.
Thibault, who is currently flagged in the S-file, faces various charges including threats against the President of the Republic. His legal history includes previous arrests during demonstrations in Margny and Saint-Denis.
