Ritsumeikan University football coach apologizes as league season approaches
The Kansai Student American Football League Division 1 season is set to begin on September 4 at MK Taxi Field Expo. Ritsumeikan University enters the season aiming for a third consecutive Koshien Bowl title, with Kyoto University and Doshisha University also positioned as top contenders.
At a press conference for the league's opening, Ritsumeikan University coach Kentaro Takahashi issued an apology for past misconduct. Takahashi had been removed from his coaching duties in December 2023 following allegations of inappropriate physical and psychological guidance toward two students. He officially returned to his position in June.
