Ritter Sport reduces weight of new protein chocolate bars

Ritter Sport has introduced new protein chocolate variants in Germany that weigh 75 grams, a 25-gram reduction from the brand’s standard 100-gram bars. While the packaging maintains the same surface area as standard bars, the new products, including Crunchy Peanut and Crunchy Hazelnut, are thinner.

The manufacturer attributed this change to the lightweight, aerated structure of the protein crisps and the rising costs of ingredients, specifically milk protein. Ritter Sport stated that this reduction is specific to the new protein series and is not a planned change for its entire special edition portfolio, citing a Haribo Pico-Balla collaboration that remains at 100 grams.
