RIU Hotels & Resorts increases social investment by 62% to over 5 million euros

RIU Hotels & Resorts has increased its social investment by 62% in 2025, reaching a total of 5.13 million euros. This growth is part of the company’s ‘Proudly Committed’ sustainability strategy, which supports 119 projects in collaboration with 101 entities.

Over half of the investment (56%) was directed toward health, education, and child protection, benefiting 69,244 children directly and 57,871 people indirectly. The company also expanded its environmental initiatives by 40%, focusing on biodiversity through 28 projects. Notable actions included the release of over 100,000 sea turtle hatchlings in Cape Verde and Costa Rica, and the restoration of 12,642 coral colonies in locations such as the Maldives, Mauritius, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Spain.

On the operational side, RIU achieved 100% Ecostars certification across its hotel fleet a year ahead of schedule, with 90% of its electricity consumption now sourced from renewable energy. Financially, the company reported gross revenues of 4.188 billion euros, a 2.6% increase, while operating 101 hotels across 22 countries.
