Rivadavia municipality plans urban design project to honor Punta de Rieles history

The Municipality of Rivadavia is planning an urban design project to highlight the historical significance of the Punta de Rieles sector. Developed in collaboration with architect Héctor Muñoz Daract, the initiative aims to reconstruct the area's identity and settlement origins.

The name Punta de Rieles dates back to 1890, referring to the horse-drawn tram lines that connected the provincial center with the districts of Concepción, Trinidad, and Desamparados. The area later became a railway hub following the arrival of the railroad in 1885.

The project includes the construction of a sculptural landmark at the site of the former local fountain. The architectural design will use railway-inspired aesthetics to commemorate the historical development of transportation in the region, which once facilitated the movement of passengers and local wine production.
