Rivas Vaciamadrid gets Spain’s most powerful 300 kW EV charger as electric car sales surge
Electra has installed an ultra‑rapid 300 kW charging station with eight points at the Rivas Futura shopping centre in Rivas Vaciamadrid, capable of fully charging an electric vehicle in around 15 minutes. The €800,000 investment is the seventh such station in the Community of Madrid and the 15th in Spain, with an expected 45 daily charges and an annual CO₂ saving of roughly 323 tonnes.
In the first half of the year, the province of Ourense recorded 1,967 new vehicle registrations, of which 1,510 (77%) were zero‑emission models. Hybrid vehicles led the market with 937 sales, while pure‑electric cars reached 258 registrations. Diesel cars fell to a residual 3% share, with just 59 registrations, reflecting a sharp decline driven by higher fuel prices and low‑emission zones.
The contrasting developments illustrate Spain’s rapid shift toward electric and hybrid mobility, driven by new infrastructure, local regulatory measures and changing consumer preferences.
