River and Gimnasia terminate contracts with Paulo Díaz and Lucas Castro

River Plate and Chilean defender Paulo Díaz officially ended their contract. Díaz, who had 222 appearances for the club, will join MLS side Atlanta United on a two‑year deal. The rescission saves River about US$3 million that would have been paid through the end of 2027.

Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata also reached a mutual termination with midfielder Lucas Castro. After 86 matches and limited playing time, Castro is expected to sign with Aldosivi. The club will settle a short‑term debt to the player as part of the agreement.
