River of Light Festival Returns to Liverpool Oct 23–Nov 1

The River of Light, an iconic light‑art festival, will take place in Liverpool from 23 October to 1 November 2026 under the theme “Together”. Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to walk a new trail that expands beyond the waterfront to city‑centre locations such as Williamson Square and St Paul’s Square.

New works commissioned for 2026 include POP! by Gentilhomme, the Dream Herd installation by Amigo, and LOOP by Olivier Girouard and Jonathan Villeneuve, featuring a bespoke animation created with British‑Sri Lankan artist MURUGIAH. The festival is partnered with Liverpool ABID and presented by QDSinternational. Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture Harry Doyle described the event as “one of the jewels in the crown for culture in this city”.
