River otter recovers from head trauma after Vacaville hit-and-run

A river otter is undergoing medical treatment after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Vacaville, California. The collision occurred near the intersection of Leisure Town Road and Foxborough Road, an area identified by wildlife advocates as a high-risk zone for otters crossing near traffic due to local waterways.

The Solano Wildlife Rescue and Education Center reported that the otter sustained head trauma and brain swelling but did not suffer any broken bones. The animal is currently stable, and rescuers expect a recovery period of approximately seven to ten days as the swelling subsides.

The nonprofit organization has issued a plea for public donations to assist with the costs of medical care, rehabilitation, and transportation for the injured animal.
