River Plate and Boca Juniors target South American stars in transfer market

River Plate is actively pursuing Colombian midfielder Nelson Deossa from Real Betis. Betis has set a price of around €9 million and is willing to sell, while clubs from Brazil – Vasco da Gama, Fluminense, Palmeiras and Flamengo – and Mexico’s Club América have also shown interest. River sent sporting director Pablo Longoria to Spain to accelerate talks, but Betis expects a formal sale rather than a loan.

Boca Juniors are in negotiations for San Lorenzo defender Jhoan Romaña, with a reported $0.5 million gap between Boca’s $2.5 million offer and the club’s $3 million asking price. Boca also aims to acquire Colombian midfielder Sebastián Villa from Independiente Rivadavia, who is valued at $8‑9 million. To lower the price, Boca has proposed including several of its own players – Tomás Belmonte, Williams Alarcón, Ángel Romero, Lucas Janson, Milton Giménez and Alan Velasco – in a possible exchange.
