River Plate celebrates International Fan Day honoring Ángel Labruna

September 28 marks the International River Plate Fan Day, a date established in 2003 by the club's fan subcommission to honor the birth of Ángel Labruna. Labruna is considered the club's greatest idol, having served as both a player and manager.

As a player, Labruna was a key member of the legendary 'La Máquina' forward line. He holds the record as the club's all-time leading scorer with 317 goals and is the top scorer in the history of the Superclásico against Boca Juniors with 16 goals. During his tenure, he won a total of 22 championships, including the 1975 Metropolitano and Nacional titles as a manager.

In celebration of the day, former player Joaquín Freitas, who recently transferred from River Plate to Flamengo for a gross amount of $9,280,000 for 80% of his rights, shared a tribute to the fans on social media.
