River Plate reaches verbal deal for Ángel Correa, eyes Mauro Arambarri signing

River Plate has secured a verbal agreement with Argentine forward Ángel Correa, who is keen to return after more than a decade abroad. The club offered a long‑term contract and will match the salary he receives at Mexican side Tigres. Tigres, however, is demanding a transfer fee of about US$14 million, while River’s initial offer is around US$10 million, leaving the deal pending final negotiations.

At the same time, River is close to completing the signing of Uruguayan midfielder Mauro Arambarri from Getafe. The Argentine club aims to acquire 50 % of his federative rights for roughly US$5 million, pending agreement on the remaining details. Both moves follow the recent acquisition of defender Nicolás Otamendi and reflect River’s aggressive activity in the transfer market ahead of the upcoming season.

The negotiations involve clubs in Argentina, Mexico and Spain, and the outcomes will shape River’s squad for competitions such as the Copa Sudamericana and the domestic league.
