Franco Armani leaves River Plate to rejoin Atlético Nacional

River Plate announced that the contract with goalkeeper Franco Armani has been mutually terminated, ending an eight‑year and a half spell in which he played 366 matches, kept 158 clean sheets and won ten titles, including the 2018 Copa Libertadores.

The club called Armani a "living legend" and said, "Franco Armani y River Plate han resuelto de común acuerdo el cierre de un ciclo que quedará grabado para siempre en la memoria del club y los hinchas." A press conference to bid farewell is scheduled for Monday 13 July at 16:00 at the Monumental.

Armani will return to Colombian side Atlético Nacional, where he began his professional career (2010‑2017) and is regarded as an idol. The move marks the closure of a highly successful era for the Argentine club's most decorated goalkeeper.
