River Plate cuts 11 players from pre‑season squad for Spain trip

River Plate announced that eleven footballers will not travel to Alicante, Spain, for the club’s pre‑season training scheduled from 21 June to 5 July. The official communiqué lists Paulo Díaz, Maximiliano Meza, Germán Pezzella, Fabricio Bustos, Alex Woiski, Maximiliano Salas and Giuliano Galoppo among those excluded, along with youngsters Ian Subiabre and Santiago Lencina, whose loans are being negotiated. The decision was made by head coach Eduardo "Chacho" Coudet as part of a squad reshuffle, and the remaining players will train at the Finca Resort in Alicante. Players currently on international duty, such as Kendry Páez, Matías Viña, Kevin Castaño and Matías Galarza Fonda, are expected to re‑join after the World Cup.
