River Plate draws 2-2 with Flamengo in pre‑season friendly
River Plate and Brazil's Flamengo played out a 2‑2 draw in a pre‑season friendly at the Estádio do Algarve in Portugal. Sebastián Driussi opened the scoring for River in the seventh minute and added a second on a Facundo Colidio assist in the 37th minute. Flamengo equalised through Samuel Lino before Bruno Henrique gave the Brazilian side the lead, after which River restored parity.
Coach Eduardo Coudet used the match to test new signings and youth prospects ahead of the club’s upcoming Copa Sudamericana, Torneo Clausura and Copa Argentina campaigns. Debuts were made by Giovanni González, Mauro Arambarri, Tobías Goytía and 18‑year‑old left‑back Valentín Lucero, who had previously progressed through River’s lower divisions. Lucero featured for six minutes, completing all six of his passes.
The friendly also saw appearances from other squad members such as Lino, Bruno Henrique, and goalkeeper Santiago Beltrán, who made several notable saves for River.
