River Plate faces Belgrano amid 31-match winless streak after conceding

River Plate faces a significant statistical challenge ahead of their match against Belgrano in Córdoba this Sunday. The team, currently under the interim leadership of Leonardo Ponzio, is struggling with a persistent inability to secure victories after conceding the first goal.

Since November 2024, River Plate has failed to win in 31 consecutive matches where they started trailing. This streak includes 22 defeats and 9 draws. The difficulty in recovering from adverse match situations has persisted through various coaching changes, including the tenures of Marcelo Gallardo and Eduardo Coudet.

The upcoming fixture in the Torneo Clausura 2026 is critical for River Plate's playoff aspirations and their standing in the annual table. The team is looking to break this nearly two-year trend of failing to complete comebacks during regulation time.
