River Plate midfielder Giorgio Costantini suffers second ACL injury

River Plate midfielder Giorgio Costantini has suffered a serious knee injury, specifically a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his right knee. The 20-year-old Brazilian player sustained the injury during a training session with the Reserve team.

This marks the second time the player has faced such a severe injury; approximately one year ago, he suffered a similar rupture in his left knee. Following his previous recovery, Costantini had recently returned to action with the Reserve squad under coach Marcelo Escudero, appearing in matches against Talleres, Gimnasia de Mendoza, Godoy Cruz, and Atlético Tucumán.

Costantini is scheduled to undergo surgery this coming Friday. The expected recovery period is estimated to be between eight and nine months, which could delay his return to competitive play until April or May of next year.
