River Plate signs Mauro Arambarri and arranges July 3 friendly with Flamengo

River Plate confirmed the signing of Uruguayan midfielder Mauro Arambarri on a contract running until December 2028. The club purchased 100% of his rights for roughly €6 million, acquiring the remaining percentages from Getafe, Boston River and the player himself. Arambarri joined the squad in pre‑season training at Ezeiza and will travel with the team to Alicante before heading to Portugal.

As part of the European pre‑season, River announced a friendly against Brazilian giants Flamengo on 3 July at the Estádio Algarve in Faro, Portugal. The match is billed as a high‑level test for Eduardo Coudet’s side ahead of the second half of the domestic season. The club also reported other transfer activity, including the signing of Lucas Silva on a long‑term deal with a €100 million release clause.

The friendly will give both South American clubs a chance to assess their squads before the upcoming league and cup competitions.
