River Plate turmoil and Rosario Central transfer saga dominate Argentine football

River Plate suffered a 2-0 defeat to Rosario Central at the Monumental, extending its run of four consecutive losses and leaving the club at the bottom of the league. Coach Eduardo Coudet did not speak publicly after the match but later changed his WhatsApp profile picture and posted the phrase “Los cagones no hacen historia,” a message interpreted as a show of confidence in his project. He subsequently met with club president Stéfano Di Carlo and addressed the squad.

Separately, Rosario Central faced a dispute with Colombian winger Jaminton Campaz, who announced he would not train and left the club’s facilities to press for a move to Mexico’s Club América. The Mexican side reportedly offered around $3.5 million for the player, a sum the Central board, led by president Gonzalo Bello, deemed insufficient. Campaz’s contract runs until December 2026, and his refusal to train has heightened tensions with coach Jorge Almirón.
