River Reach Construction workers rescue kitten trapped in excavator
Workers at River Reach Construction in Ohio rescued a kitten that had become trapped inside a Komatsu mini excavator. The rescue took place in July at a job site in Leavittsburg, where operations supervisor Chase Guello heard meowing coming from the machinery. Guello and his team removed a protective metal plate to safely extract the small white and ginger kitten.
After the rescue, the kitten was temporarily cared for by a volunteer at the One of a Kind Pets shelter in Akron to ensure she was properly weaned and healthy. The kitten, named Komatsu Sue in honor of the excavator brand, has since been adopted by Jared, a mechanic at the company’s workshop. The kitten has become a viral social media sensation and an official mascot for the construction firm.
