Rivers State Governor Fubara Praises Army Chief Shaibu and Backs Security Operations
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara met with Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu at Government House in Port Harcourt, praising the army’s recent efforts to improve security and the welfare of troops. Fubara said the state will continue to support the Nigerian Army’s operations and highlighted the decision to host this year’s Nigerian Army Day in Rivers State as evidence of a more peaceful environment.
He credited the military’s actions against pipeline vandalism and oil bunkering for rising crude‑oil production and revenue, stating, “I can say oil production has tremendously increased in Nigeria and our oil revenue is making progress because of the support of the Nigerian Army.” The governor also pledged logistical and infrastructural assistance for the upcoming Army Day events.
Shaibu thanked Fubara for the collaboration and reaffirmed that the army will keep working closely with the state government to strengthen security.
